Meet Shauna - and help other families like hers

Dear friends:

As we draw closer to the end of another year, I am writing to you with a heartfelt request, but first, I want to share a story that encapsulates the transformative work happening at Hopeful Horizons.

Meet Shauna, a resilient woman, mother and survivor.

Shauna was in an abusive marriage, juggling long work hours, motherhood and financial struggles. She was also dealing with the aftermath of her husband’s abuse of their daughter. Despite these overwhelming adversities, Shauna came to Hopeful Horizons for counseling and remained committed to healing.

After her daughter underwent a forensic interview with Hopeful Horizons, Shauna found the strength to change jobs, seek legal help, finish her education and earn a significant certification for her profession. This achievement not only boosted her self-esteem, but also increased her earning potential.

Her transformation has been so profound that her coworker, witnessing her progress, requested our contact information, saying, “I never believed in therapy until I witnessed how much it has helped you. I have a loved one who needs help.”

Shauna’s story is a testament to the life-changing impact of your support – the services we provide at Hopeful Horizons are at no cost to victims and survivors. Today, Shauna continues to use the tools she learned in therapy to navigate life's challenges and her anxiety has significantly decreased.

Now, we need your help to assist other families like Shauna’s. Join other supporters in making a difference by donating to our year-end campaign. Your generosity will help us continue providing essential services to victims and survivors of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as prevention and education programs to help stop abuse in the Lowcountry. Together, we can create more opportunities for healing for survivors like Shauna and her daughter.

Your support is not just a donation, but an investment in a better, safer and more hopeful future for individuals, families and our community.

Thank you for helping to end abuse and change lives right here in the Lowcountry.

With gratitude,

Kristin Dubrowski

CEO

P.S. Many of our supporters give stock, donate from Donor Advised Funds or make a Qualified Charitable Distribution, all of which are more “tax-smart” than giving cash. We greatly appreciate any form of contribution you choose to make, as every little bit helps us inch closer to our goal. Click here for more information on these types of giving.
