Hopeful Horizons Welcomes New Staff Attorney
Hopeful Horizons is pleased to announce the hiring of Melissa Arnold, Esq., as the organization’s staff attorney.
She comes to Hopeful Horizons after a successful private practice in Bluffton. She was formerly a staff attorney with the SC Department of Corrections and is the former executive director of Lowcountry Legal Volunteers.
“I became a lawyer because I wanted to advocate for those who could not do so for themselves,” Arnold said. “Working for Hopeful Horizons allows me to do such work. I’m fortunate to do work I feel passionate about at a place where I feel valued and supported.”
Arnold earned her B.A. in international relations from the University of California, Davis, and her law degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego.
“Legal services are such an important part of the work we do for survivors of abuse,” said Kristin Dubrowski, CEO of Hopeful Horizons. “We’re excited to have Melissa leading our legal team and advocating for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault during a very difficult and traumatic time in their lives.”
Hopeful Horizons’ legal services are funded by the SC Bar Foundation, the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Foundation and the US Department of Justice’s Legal Assistance for Victims Program.
