Hopeful Horizons Receives $6,500 Grant from Church Mouse Thrift Shop

Hopeful Horizons is pleased to announce the receipt of a grant from The Church Mouse Thrift Shop, Inc. The $6,500 grant will fund a new HVAC system at Hopeful Horizons’ emergency domestic violence shelter.

Hopeful Horizons provides more than 4,000 nights of shelter for approximately 150 women and children who flee their homes due to domestic violence each year. The shelter can house up to 24 women and children. The shelter is homey and has six bedrooms (each with a private bathroom), a communal living room, a large playroom and a large kitchen and dining area so residents can eat together.

“We are so grateful for this grant from The Church Mouse Thrift Shop,” said Hopeful Horizons CEO Kristin Dubrowski. “These funds will help ensure the comfort and safety of all those who access our services for many years to come.”

The Church Mouse Thrift Shop, Inc. was created in 2004 and designed to serve the community with low-cost goods as well as grants to local non-profit organizations and to provide funds for mission projects for the church across the globe. The Church Mouse Thrift Shop, with its expanded showroom, can be visited at 78 Arrow Road, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Hopeful Horizons is a children's advocacy, domestic violence and rape crisis center that works to create safer communities by changing the culture of violence and offering a path to healing. The organization provides safety, hope and healing to survivors of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault through evidence-based practices, outreach, prevention and education.
