Race4Love: A Celebration of Healing, Hope and Love

Kirsty Fitzgibbons

Hopeful Horizons invites our community to begin Domestic Violence Awareness Month with purpose. At Race4Love, every runner, walker, volunteer, sponsor and supporter helps to send a clear message: survivors are not alone, abuse is not acceptable and hope is stronger when a community stands together.

At Hopeful Horizons, we know that healing does not happen alone. It is supported by caring friends, loving family members, trusted advocates and a community willing to stand beside survivors. The Race4Love 5K Run and 3K Walk is one of the ways our community comes together to celebrate that support and remind survivors that they are not alone.

Race4Love is designed to be welcoming for people of all ages and abilities. Participants can enjoy the 5K run or 3K walk, spend time with family and friends and celebrate the positive, loving relationships in their lives. The event is also family and dog-friendly, making it possible for entire support systems to participate together.

There is no single way to participate. Some people volunteer to help make race day possible, while others register to run or walk. For many survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse, being involved in Race4Love is a meaningful part of their healing journey. Every role matters and every person who participates helps create a stronger community of support for survivors and their families

Race4Love began with a community determined to honor lives lost to violence and support those affected by it. As we begin Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we carry that purpose forward, working together to prevent abuse, support survivors and create safer futures for children and families.
